Afghan Palace – Great food, nice atmosphere and friendly service Just returned from the Afghan Palace with a group of 12 friends. As always, Emil & the Afghan Palace served us all a great meal. Nice atmosphere and friendly service! I highly recommend the Afghan Palace! For starters I had the Mashawa Soup, a combination of garbanzo, kidney and lintel beans in a yogurt-based broth that was slightly spicy and very tasty. I sampled the Eggplant Borrani served with hot Afghani bread, it's a mild tomato and grilled eggplant based appetizer that is excellent and surpasses Baba Ghanoush as my favorite eggplant dish. Dinner included the Chicken Kabob and Lamb Kabob Entrees. The Chicken Kabob is a citrus marinated chicken breast, skewed and broiled to perfection. It's as good or better than any chicken dish of its type I've ever experienced. The Lamb Kabob had a nice flavor and texture, but was a little over done. (Medium well done +) The Entrees came with Basmati rice, Hummus and two very tasty sauces. Everyone in the group enjoyed their selections and with some of the group, this is high praise indeed! Afghan Palace is definitely worth a visit. 4 ½ stars
